New System Training

Portfolio

Multi-year project, training over 10 different user roles - with 2000+ learners onboarded to the new system.

During my four years as Instructional Design Lead at a large Group Insurance company, I earned Adobe Captivate certification. I used this software to develop eLearning for a new administrative system.

In this role, I was responsible for creating the design style guide, learning plan, process maps, storyboards, system demonstrations, simulations, user guides, job aids, and instructor-led training.

Working in an agile environment using the ADDIE model, I collaborated with subject matter experts across multiple project teams during each sprint. As the software evolved rapidly throughout the project, I participated in user experience testing and helped plan the training environment and data setup.

The training I developed targeted distinct user roles and went through several iterations across software releases. Over four years, my team onboarded over 2,000 employees in roles including Underwriting, Sales, Implementation, Claims, and Customer Support. We also handled go-live support, communications, promotions, and train-the-trainer.

This fun interaction was created for new users to the administrative system. After they did their eLearning and attended a demo session of the new system - they were given this scavenger hunt and encouraged to log into the system and find the answers by navigating through the system.

They submitted their answers and were entered into a prize drawing pool for several hundred dollars worth of gift cards.

The goal was to make sure they were immediately applying what they had learned about navigating the system, and getting into the "sandbox" version to start building the muscle memory of the system.

This quick video was created to bring a little fun to the upcoming training for the new administration system.

As part of the change management plan, I built this fun little video to promote the system training. We wanted to promote that the training was set up to be short eLearning modules that a learner could take in 10-15 minute increments. The goal was, if a learner needed to know how to do one task in the system, they could take that one module at their convenience to learn the process or even as a quick refresh.

This video demo was created in Vyond and played in the background of our booth during the national gathering of all field sales teams.

This is a sample storyboard created for a short training on a new administrative system.

The eLearn's we created for this training course included three parts:

Each storyboard included this three step approach to training.
